Senior Drama

This term in Drama, Year 8 are studying Greek Theatre. They have covered the history and origins of Greek Theatre and are now exploring how to create Greek chorus performances.

Their first practical task has been to turn a classic nursery rhyme into a dramatic and ominous Greek chorus performance. There is no doubt that students found this challenging at first. How can you make ‘row, row, row your boat’ feel darker? However, after working collaboratively to share ideas, then working with the lighting and sound equipment in the Drama studio, each group created a really imaginative performance that fulfilled the brief.

Director of Drama, Mrs Monk, was very impressed with the students’ perseverance in this task, their detemination to overcome the challenges and to keep refining their work until they achieved the desired effect.
