This week saw a new tradition born at St Edward’s – our first Scholar-led Drama production. Staging a play is an enormous undertaking, but Niamh M (Lower Sixth) showed exemplary organisational and leadership skills to pull together her cast and create a moving outdoor performance.
Dennis Kelly’s play ‘DNA’ is a challenging text, examining teenagers, and the challenging way in which humans can behave towards each other. The setting was the school woods, which was incredibly atmospheric and had the effect of making the audience feel that they were complicit with the teenagers as they plotted and argued.
We hope that this will be the first of many Scholar-led productions. Huge congratulations to Niamh and her talented cast of Year 9 and 10 students who put in huge amounts of rehearsal time over the past few months.
