Building on the success of last week’s A Level results at St Edward’s, we are delighted to announce a fantastic set of GCSE results for this year’s Year 11 students.
14% of all results were at Grade 9, 44% at Grades 9-7 and 64% at Grades 9-6.
21% of the cohort secured 9 GCSEs at Grades 9-7 and, yet again, our value-added scores place us among the best in the country.
Headmaster, Matthew Burke said,
Today, our focus is of course our students. They are an astonishing, resilient and inspirational generation who deserve nothing but praise for how they have handled the past two years. Plenty of stories will emerge and each individual set of results tells its own story. We congratulate them all.
Results days are, of course, an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of students. We, along with all other schools, take great delight in so doing and that is as it should be. However, whether we focus on individual achievements or on the success of entire cohorts, let us never forget that behind every grade is a teacher, to whom that grade means just as much as it does to the student. It is important to recognise the incredible contribution of teachers to the lives of young people, and I for one feel incredibly privileged to be a part of the St Edward’s team.
We look forward to celebrating our students’ ongoing achievements as they continue their educational journey with us in Sixth Form. I have no doubt that there will be many more successes to look forward to in the years to come.
