We are very pleased to announce an impressive set of A Level results at St Edward’s, at the end of what has been a very different sort of academic year!

This year, 52% of all results were at Grades A*-A, with 78% at Grades A*-B.

Headmaster, Matthew Burke said

I would like to congratulate all students receiving their grades today. I know that every student at St Edward’s, and indeed across the country, has worked exceptionally hard over what has been a particularly demanding and difficult two years. We are particularly proud of the fact that 62% of our students obtained two or more results at A* or A Grades. It is also important that we thank members of teaching staff, whose hard work has enabled a whole generation of young people to demonstrate their learning, at a time when we have not been able to rely on the traditional examination system.

We are delighted that St Edward’s students have secured places at some of the country’s top universities including Durham University, University of Exeter, Loughborough University, University of Bath, Royal Holloway, University of Gloucestershire, Kingston University, Queen Mary University of London, Cardiff University and University of Glasgow. They will be studying a diverse range of courses including: Law, Biology, Drama, Economics and Mathematics, Classics, Biomedical Sciences, Professional Policing, Fine Art, Photography, Politics and International Relations, Creative Writing, Psychology and Computer Science.

Mr Burke continued,

It is worth remembering the circumstances in which this year’s grades were awarded, during the most demanding and difficult year personally for so many families. Our exceptional teachers implemented a rigorous and robust evidential process of Teacher Assessed Grades, and the confirmed results are testament to success of the efforts of both students and staff over a period of time which was punctuated by several sessions of remote learning. At St Edward’s, we pride ourselves on knowing each and every one of our students on an individual basis and it is undoubtedly this knowledge that proved to be a key element of the grading process this year.

We wish all of our students well as they progress on to the next stage in their journey. We very much look forward to hearing about their future adventures and successes as they remain part of the life-long community that is St Edward’s Cheltenham.
