A group of five engineering hopefuls in Lower Sixth have been meeting every week for the last six months, as part of their Industrial Cadets Gold Award.

The Award links teams of students and their teachers with local companies, enabling them to work on real-life, scientific, engineering and technology projects. A minimum of 50 hours work is required incorporating activities such as:

  • Company and sector research
  • Site Visits and presentations
  • Mentor meetings
  • Hands-on problem solving and critical thinking activities

The St Edward’s team focussed on a project to develop a surveillance system, overseen by their mentor from Ultra Electronics PCS.

On Thursday, the team gave their final presentation to a panel of Engineers who would assess their work.

The team delivered their presentation brilliantly, and Head of Science, Mrs Safe, was very pleased with their work throughout. Well done to all involved for representing the School so well and showing tremendous dedication.
