Our students regularly tell us that they appreciate the excellent teaching, huge variety of opportunities, freedom and responsibility they experience in our Sixth Form. Whether they have been at St Edward’s since Year 7, or joined us in Lower Sixth, they feel part of a busy, thriving community and relish their role as leaders.

Welcome to Sixth Form

Life in our Sixth Form is academically challenging. We expect our students to manage their time independently so that they can enjoy the social benefits alongside their studies.

Theo, Leaver 2020:

I really enjoyed my time at the School, and valued the opportunities on offer for one-to-one attention which really helps with your studies. I’m going to Durham University to study Biological Sciences and it was thanks to the support of the teachers that I’ve gone down that path.

Independence & Support

Small class sizes, less formal but positive relationships with staff, an emphasis on effective independent study and high expectations supported by excellent teaching all lie at the heart of our success.

Gemma, Leaver 2020;

I really enjoyed my time at school doing a whole range of extracurricular activities from Orchestra through to CCF and Duke of Edinburgh. At A Level I studied Maths, RS, and Spanish and I found that the UCAS Team were really helpful in preparing us for our University applications. I’m now studying Law at the University of Exeter.

Fulfilling Their Future

We believe this is a special place to spend the final two years at School before moving on, whether that is in Higher Education, Apprenticeships, or jobs with training. Whichever path our students choose, we believe we can provide an exciting and stimulating journey which will help them to fulfil their future plans.

Olivia, Leaver 2019:

I loved being part of the St Edward’s community. The close relationships with teachers and the small class sizes provide opportunities for exclusive tutoring which helps to create a professional working relationship between students and teachers.

Incredible Facilities

Sixth Formers benefit from an excellent range of facilities including dedicated Sixth Form Science Laboratories, Art and Photography Studios, a Sixth Form Café and a full programme of Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG).

From CCF to Drama, sports teams to public speaking, St Edward’s offers a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. Sixth Formers often adopt leadership roles or even introduce some of their own clubs. Sixth Form student engagement makes a significant contribution to the cultural life of the School. In addition, all members of our Sixth Form have the opportunity to complete the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
