Choosing a setting for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Not only is it essential that your child feels safe, confident and happy in their new environment, but you must also feel comfortable that their developmental needs are being met.

We firmly believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support to fulfill their potential. A child’s experience in their early years has a major impact on their future life and provides the foundation for children to make the most of their talent as they grow.

Gaining inspiration from a Reggio Emilia study tour that I was privileged to attend I have introduced an approach in which we believe that the learning environment is the third teacher and has the potential to inspire children.

With this in mind we have introduced specialist studios which focus on the arts and give our children the opportunity to be transformed by fantasy and imagination.

We have three groups for our Kindergarten children:

Little Acorns and Little Oaks (12-18 months) where we help develop a natural curiosity by providing a wide range of sensory experiences.

Nursery (2-3 years) where we construct the child’s knowledge through a carefully planned curriculum built upon the child’s interest, this way we can develop a lifelong passion for learning.

Pre-School (3-4 years) where we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and integrate the IPC (International Primary Curriculum) to further develop broad and balanced learning. Our outdoor areas provide a wonderful environment for child-initiated play. St Edward’s also offers inclusive specialist lessons:-in Music, PE, French and Computing.
