Children in Year 1 rolled up their sleeves and had a brilliant time in the Cookery Room this Friday.
Shortbread biscuits were the order of the day and the children were very excited to get started! They talked about the recipe in the classroom first, thinking about the ingredients and the correct way to measure everything out.
Working in small groups, the children weighed their ingredients and combined them into a dough before rolling and cutting out shapes of their choice. They made sure to start at the edges and work inwards so that they got as many biscuits out of their dough as possible, before placing each shape carefully on the baking tray. After 20 minutes in the oven, the fruits of their labour were ready to be enjoyed.
They thoroughly relished the opportunity to cook together and, of course, the chance to eat a sweet treat!
