This year, for Anti-Bullying Week, the Prep School have been taking the theme ‘One Kind Word’ a step further and holding their own ‘Kindness Week’.
“Kindness is more important today than it has ever been. The isolation of the last year has underlined how little acts of consideration can break down barriers and brighten the lives of the people around us.” – The Anti Bullying Alliance
They began on Monday morning with an assembly to introduce the week, led by PSHE Lead, Mrs Bailey. The third of a trilogy of school assemblies, the week linked to our well-being programme covering the topics ‘think of others’ and ‘my mental health’. The aim being to empower our pupils to ask for help, to offer help to others and cultivate healthy friendships.
The children were each provided with a kindness diary which was laden with ideas for small acts of kindness. The pupils were encouraged to think of ways in which they could add some of these extra kind activities into their day, before discussing them in their PSHE lessons.
The week was rounded off with another assembly where the pupils thought of ways in which they could show kindness both in and out of school.
