This year, the Pupil Council has been working very hard to raise money for Children in Need. The day began with an informative assembly from Mrs Bailey, who explained the varied ways in which Children in Need put our donations to work. She spoke about the range of disadvantages that can affect children, such as poverty, disability, illness, distress and trauma and how the charity aims to remove barriers facing young people so that they can thrive. She also spoke about the ways in which some of our fantastic local organisations help.
As the pandemic has had a huge impact on the mental health and well-being of lots of children, this is one of the main focuses of this year’s campaign. All of the pupils in assembly were invited to take part in some guided Mindfulness activities with TV presenter Dr Ranj.
To raise money, our pupil council organised a fabulous bake sale which took place in each form room at breaktime with a plethora of homemade treats on offer. The pupils brought their pocket money and made donations in exchange for something yummy to eat.
All pupils and staff were also invited to attend school in non-uniform in exchange for making donations to the charity online.
The day was a great success, with lots of money raised.
