Year 5 have got stuck into their new, whole-class African Drumming lessons this week. The instrument celebrates cultural diversity in music in which the children are actively involved. It also requires the pupils to work together to produce a cohesive sound, is an excellent way to improve rhythmic accuracy and can even improve upper body strength!
African djembe drumming is an exciting and exhilarating experience which develops overall musicianship in our pupils, can help them to develop a greater sense of focus, as well as improved listening and ensemble skills.
In addition to the musicality and creativity that it inspires, African drumming also provides feelings of heightened well-being, self-esteem, and confidence.
We look forward to seeing how their talents develop!
