We are very lucky here at St Edward’s, to be able to offer whole-class instrument lessons. This term, it is the turn of our Year 4 pupils to pick up a violin and get playing!

A notoriously tricky instrument to perfect, the children started slowly and began by familiarising themselves with the parts of the instrument. They then learnt how to hold the instrument correctly and the best technique for ‘plucking’, before moving on to short, tuneful sequences.

Learning an instrument can be wonderfully beneficial for children, developing confidence, concentration, and memory skills.
