It has been wonderful to welcome our pupils back to their classrooms for the first day of the new school year today.
Both children and staff were in good spirits as they settled back into their routines. The day began with an assembly from Mr Fathers, with the theme of ‘reconnecting’, which will run through all assemblies in September. Over the course of the term the children will also focus on ‘Being Healthy’, ‘Being Proactive’ and ‘Patience’.
As covid preventative measures have been relaxed, today saw the first restriction-free playtime in over 18 months. Part of the family-feel that our children experience here comes from the Prep School’s small size, and it is not uncommon to see pupils from different year groups engaged in play together. This element of the ‘St Edward’s experience’ has been on hold in recent months and it was a joy to watch the children mix with peers of all ages and introduce each other to siblings who have recently joined the student body.
We are delighted that the return to school has gone so smoothly and are excited to see what the rest of term has in store.
