On Tuesday afternoon, Year 4 took part in an electrifying practical Science lesson! The children were asked to investigate a variety of materials to ascertain which were conductors and which were insulators. The children familiarised themselves with the properties that would class a material as a conductor (materials that allow electricity to pass through them easily) and which properties would mean that a material was an insulator (materials that do not allow electricity to pass through them).
The pupils had a range of substances to test, including wood, copper, glass, steel and plastic. They each set up a circuit and chose to test a range of samples making sure that they had written predictions for the outcome of each beforehand.
Learning through experience like this is a brilliant way to make a new Scientific principle memorable.
