In Drama, Year 6 have been exploring Shakespeare’s comedy, ‘Twelfth Night’. In particular, they have been examining the characters of Viola, Olivia and Malvolio. They worked on the script, focusing on how to make Shakespearean language sound natural and expressive, and using the language as a tool for communicating the characters.
In the pictures below, they perform Act 1 Sc 5. Viola (disguised as a boy) now works as the Duke’s page as she first visits the Countess Olivia, who is in mourning for her brother. First, Viola must convince Malvolio to allow her to pass, and then convince Olivia of the Duke’s love.
