On the back of an outstanding set of A Level results last week, we are delighted to announce an outstanding set of GCSE results for St Edward’s School. This year our students secured 12% of all results at Grade 9, 26% at Grade 9 or 8 and 47% of all results at Grades 9 to 7. With 77% of results at Grades 6 or above and 98% at Grades 9-4, St Edward’s performed significantly above the national average.

Headmaster, Mr Matthew Burke said, “I am delighted for our Year 11 students, who have shown impressive resilience and determination during what has been an extremely difficult and turbulent few months. Thanks to their fortitude, along with the academic and pastoral support provided by our dedicated teaching staff, they have been justly rewarded for the effort and commitment they have put into their two years of GCSE study.”

In Maths we were particularly pleased that 57% of students achieved a Grade 7 or higher, and in the Sciences over half of all results were at Grades 9-7.

In English Language and English Literature, 100% of students achieved at least a Grade 4, with 80% and 86% respectively achieving Grade 6 or above.

We were especially pleased that in 14 subjects over 50% of results were at Grades 9-7 and that 27% of students achieved eight or more GCSEs at Grade 7 or above (A*-A).

Mr Burke continued, “I am incredibly proud of each and every one of our Year 11 students. Having the opportunity to share in their success has been a lovely way for me to begin my time as Headmaster here at St Edward’s. I very much look forward to seeing them develop as they continue their learning journey with us in our Sixth Form, and to celebrating further successes with them in the years to come.”
