KS3 students at St Edward’s Senior & Sixth Form have been taking on the task of earning badges in the national iDEA scheme since we returned at Easter. They have been set the target of obtaining a Bronze Award by the end of Summer Term, and they have risen to the challenge in some style!
So far, 13 students have earned over 100 points with two earning the 250 points needed to gain a Bronze Award. Those in the top group so far are from all three years of KS3 – a brilliant example of the St Edward’s vision – ‘Believe, Strive, Achieve’.
iDEA can be thought of as ‘Duke of Edinburgh for IT skills’ with a huge range of badges on offer, from graphic design through robotics to data and programming. To gain an award students have to complete badges in core categories Citizen, Worker, Maker, Entrepreneur, and then additional badges of their own choice.
You can find out more on the iDEA website.
Congratulations to our first two badge earners – Bethany B and Jack F – both in Year 9. Many more, we are sure will follow over the next few weeks!
