Senior School students showcased their language skills this week at the final round of the Latin Reading Competition, held at Cheltenham Ladies College.

Students performed in pairs, reading passages from their Latin course books.

Our Year 8 entrants presented ‘Lucius Spurius Pomponianus’, which is based on the story of Lucius Spurius Pomponianus, Grumio and Clemens who take a trip to the amphitheatre disguised as a Roman citizen and his slave. Isabella P and Lene Z did a particularly fantastic job, coming 3rd in the Junior Latin Duologue, beating 16 other pairs. Well done also to Jacob R and Megan P who were highly commended for their performance of the ‘Death of Polites’.

We are very proud of Pati L and Sam H (both Year 10) who outshone all of the other contestants in the Intermediate Latin Duologue to win with their reading of ‘Polyspaston’ – many congratulations!

All students displayed great accuracy in their delivery, demonstrating the huge amount of advance preparation had been put into their performances.
