Sixth Form students had the opportunity to learn some basic First Aid skills in a training session on Friday afternoon as part of their PSHE curriculum.
Areas covered in the session included how to check if someone is breathing, how to place someone in the recovery position and how to administer CPR correctly. The opportunity to practise using CPR training manikins really helped the students to understand what to do in the event of an emergency.
The importance of first aid training cannot be underestimated. Not only does it provide individuals with the confidence and capability to react immediately to an incident, injury or illness, it also has the potential to save lives. It has been proven that CPR aid provided during critical and life-threatening accidents, injuries or health complications can make a real difference to a patient’s chance of survival.
