This week we welcomed our specialist coaches back to St Edward’s for the first time this term, to teach our STEPS students some new techniques and help develop their game.
After school on Thursday some of our top swimmers took part in a masterclass with Aqua Zone Swim School, with the students being put through their paces in our pool. There was a particular emphasis on improving the efficiency and technique of tumbles and race starts, to ensure that they can get the maximum out of their performances in competition.
Following our great success at the ISA National Swimming competition, held in the Olympic Pool in London last year, our students are still striving to improve and work on their technique.
Gocrea8 Hockey Camps joined us on Friday with founder, Matt Fairburn, leading our students in a hockey session, helping them develop a range of skills to assist in their game play.
After a short warm-up, the players worked on their close ball control, both with their forehand and backhand, varying the speed and delivery type to keep the players on their toes.
The STEPS sessions are a great way for students to access extra training outside of lessons and fixtures.
