Pupils from a range of schools visited St Edward’s Senior & Sixth Form this afternoon to take part in the Year 5 Maths Challenge, held in our Main Hall.
Almost 100 young Mathematicians from 25 local schools, including Ashton Gate Primary, Calton Primary School, Gastrells, Lucton School, Saint John’s Primary School, St Edward’s Prep School and Westonbirt Prep School participated in the event, which gave children up to the age of 10, the opportunity to test out their mathematics skills.
St Edward’s Senior School pupils were on hand to take on the role of ‘markers’ throughout the afternoon. The eager visiting mathematicians had to solve tasks involving number sequences and grids, along with some physical challenges using shapes.
It was really lovely to see our own students working alongside the younger pupils and guiding them to successfully find the answers to what were some quite tricky challenges.
