Our Year 2s had a creative time in the Cookery Room last week, following a recipe and making gingerbread as part of their English topic on ‘instructions’.
The children worked co-operatively in three groups, mixing, whisking and rolling to create some impressively festive looking gingerbread snowmen.
Year 2 were provided with a set of instructions, the ingredients and a method to follow for the activity. This practical application of their English topic really helped to aid their understanding of their work for this term.
With some help with quantities from Mrs Brown and Miss Dearman, the children mixed their ingredients together, initially with a spoon, before getting stuck in with their hands to combine the butter and flour.
It was very exciting to get messy and creative whilst baking, and the whole group were very proud of their gingerbread creations.
