Huge congratulations to our very talented Year 4s who put on a wonderful performance of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ at The Wyvern Theatre in Swindon on Tuesday night.

The opportunity for them to perform came about as part of a national celebration of Shakespeare and drama. Each Autumn nearly 30,000 young people from primary, secondary and special schools across the country unite in the Shakespeare Schools Festival, the world’s largest youth drama festival. Months of preparation culminate in exhilarating performance evenings; young people playing Shakespeare in professional theatres, raising aspirations and unlocking the potential of students and teachers alike.

The experience of studying the text has provided Year 4 not only with the chance to embrace the language of Shakespeare and grow in confidence performing in front of an audience, but has also helped them to develop their self-esteem, articulacy, literacy and teamwork skills.

Mrs Dobson, Head of Music and Drama, said “Our Year 4 pupils have worked incredibly hard this term to master the language and magic of this enchanting play, and were able to perform with great energy and confidence. We are very proud of them all”.

“We are such stuff as dreams are made on.”
