St Edward’s was celebrating GCSE success today with 23% of students achieving eight or more GCSEs at Level 7 or above (A*-A). A total of just over 40% of grades overall at Level 7 or above (A*-A) puts St Edward’s significantly above the national average of 20.8%.
With over two thirds of results at Level 6 or above (A*-B) and more than 75% of students achieving a Level 7 (A*-A) grade, there was certainly lots to smile about.
In Maths we were particularly pleased that 55% of students achieved a Level 7 or higher (A*-A), and in Further Maths three of our talented Mathematicians achieved the impressive A^ (distinction) grade. In the Sciences over 40% of grades were at Levels 9-7 (A*-A).
In English Language and English Literature, 95% and 98% of students respectively achieved at least a Level 4 (C) with 57% and 54% achieving Level 6 or above (A*-B). We were especially pleased that in eight subjects (Computer Science, Geography, History, Latin, Maths, Further Maths, Spanish and Music) over 50% of results were at grades 9-7 (A*-A).
Headmistress, Mrs Pat Clayfield said, “I am extremely proud of all our Year 11 students today. There were some impressive individual performances from students of all abilities and the performance of the Year group as a whole is testament to the effort and commitment they showed to their studies. We look forward to welcoming many of the students back to St Edward’s in September as they continue their learning journey with us in Sixth Form. With the continued support of our dedicated and inspirational teaching staff I look forward to sharing in their many successes to come.”
