Our Year 6s most certainly proved that they liked to ‘move it’ this week when they presented five amazing performances of ‘Madagascar: A Musical Adventure Jr’ to sold out audiences.

The musical, based on the first of the five hit films in the Madagascar franchise, follows Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo as they escape New York’s Central Park Zoo to experience life outside of captivity.

Along with three energetic evening performances on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening, the pupils, accompanied by the Year 5 choir, also performed matinee performances on Monday and Tuesday afternoon for other Prep School pupils and pupils from visiting schools.

There was something for everyone, as audiences of all ages were able to enjoy the show. The catchy music, combined with some fabulously natural comedic timing from our actors, meant that everyone left with a smile.

Many congratulations go to our very committed and talented Year 6 pupils, who worked extremely hard to produce consistently impressive performances for their audiences each day.

Following last night’s final performance the Prep School’s Director of Music, Mrs Dobson,  said “This year’s production, and working with these pupils, has been one of such great fulfilment. I am so incredibly proud of what this group of young people, along with the help from the amazing Year 5s, have been able to deliver every time that they have performed. From the very start they managed to capture the essence of the story and have worked so hard to get the show to the wonderful performances that we have been able to see this week”.
