The finals of our School’s Road to Wimbledon tennis competition took place on Friday, with a number of Key Stage Three pupils progressing to the County Finals. This is the next step on the road to a place in the National Finals, which are played at Wimbledon in August.

Road to Wimbledon is the biggest junior tournament in British tennis and is run by the LTA. It provides players aged 14 and under with the opportunity to progress through to compete on the world famous grass courts at Wimbledon

This year we had great participation levels from our Year 7, 8 and 9s, with seven girls and six boys progressing to the County Finals.

In the girls’ section, Pati, Darcy, Libby, Megan, Sophie, Hannah and Isi moved onto the next stage, and Rory, Adam, Will, Henry, Ollie and Fergus progressed from the boys’ category.

In our School finals, with both matches played as a one-set match, Isi managed to fight off a stern challenge from Darcy to win in the girls’ section, with Fergus taking the win over Ollie in the boys’ final.

Good luck to all of our competitors as they look to progress through the competition and hopefully make the National Finals!
