At assembly this morning Prep pupils were joined by Megan from Sue Ryder’s Leckhampton Court Hospice who came to speak to them about the work that the charity does throughout Gloucestershire and how St Edward’s have contributed to their fundraising over recent years.

To begin with, Megan asked the children what their favourite part of their home was and explained that the Hospice makes every effort to make their patients feel as much at home as they possibly can, with their friends, family and pets coming to visit.

Our pupils were also shown the different ways in which St Edward’s works with Sue Ryder to help raise funds. In recent years, the Prep School has hosted the “Starlight Hike” and also gathered a team to run in Cheltenham’s half marathon with sponsorship money going towards the Hospice. The Prep School PTA are organising a School Team to run in this year’s event in September so anyone wishing to join in would be more than welcome to do so!

At the end of the presentation there was time for the children to ask Megan questions about the Hospice and what they do. With plenty of mature and inquisitive questions, this led on to a very insightful conversation about all of the great work carried out by the charity on a daily basis. To find out more please visit

We look forward to continuing our association with Sue Ryder and helping them make a difference to the lives of many people over the months and years to come.
