St Edward’s U11 Football Team are Cheltenham District League Champions for the second time after brushing aside a spirited Warden Hill to win the famous trophy after an eight-year gap. With a superb performance worthy of winning any trophy, everything came together to cap a brilliant season.

After starting brightly and pinning Warden Hill back, St Edward’s fell behind when a long free kick eluded everyone and bounced in off the post. However, the response was to relaunch the offensive with such ferocity that they were 3-1 ahead by the break with goals from Ieuan B, Noa M and Tommy D, and it really could have been more.

Warden Hill never gave up and scored again from a free kick, but the St Edward’s response was once again to go down the other end and completely take the game away. Ieuan B and Tommy D each added a second from long range and Noa M and Archie M scored the others as St Edward’s produced some attacking football of the highest quality.

At the back, Captain Sammy V and Ollie B both had superb games tidying up any danger as Warden repeatedly tried to break through. And Freddie W joined in on the act by pulling off a fantastic tip over save to preserve the lead. Flynn H found more freedom in the second half to maraud down the left flank as St Edward’s really began to enjoy themselves.

Well done to the whole squad for a memorable season!
