Children in Year 3 showed off their culinary talents in Cookery Club this week when they made some delicious jam tarts in the Cookery Room at the Prep School.

The pupils who attended really got stuck in, learning how to make shortcrust pastry and all about what it takes to achieve the perfect texture. They soon found out that lots of mixing was required, with some members of the Club opting for a wooden spoon, whilst others were keener for a more ‘hands on’ approach, getting a little messy in the process.

Once baked, the Year 3s were able to not only enjoy their jam tart delights, but also take them home for their family to savour as well (not until they had done the washing up, of course!).

Cookery Club takes place each Thursday after School for our Year 3 pupils and it is a great way for them to learn not only about how to make and cook new foods, but also the importance of hygiene and safety in the kitchen, whilst having a lot of fun!
