Pupils interested in taking Food Preparation & Nutrition at GCSE had the opportunity to get a taste of what the subject would entail this week when they participated in an after-school taster lesson.
The Year 9s donned their aprons to whip up some meringues in our Design & Technology kitchen, with some very tasty results!
From separating eggs to whipping up soft peaks, they learned all about the process and how it is essential to get the various components right to create a perfectly textured meringue.
When it came to colour selection, some pupils went for some unique colour choices, with one student inadvertently choosing two colours that made his mixture look more like a popular toothpaste than a dessert.
The prospective GCSE students thoroughly enjoyed the session and the opportunity to have fun whilst creating a tasty treat!
