Children in Reception had great fun when they welcomed a Dentist to the Pre-Prep Department to talk to them all about dental health and how to keep their teeth nice and clean.
They started off by thinking about their teeth – how many teeth they have, what shapes they are and what we use our teeth for. Using a crocodile puppet, the Dentist demonstrated the best way to brush our teeth, twice a day, before reading a story to the group – “Topsy and Tim go to the Dentist”.
After that it was time for some role play where the Reception children had the chance to be the Receptionist, Dentist and Dental Nurse, cleaning the teeth of Mr Crocodile and Mr Wolf, whilst acting out the daily routines of a busy dental surgery.
It was a fantastic learning experience for the children, aimed at helping them to gain a greater understanding of the importance of keeping our teeth and gums clean and healthy.
