The Final of the Gloucestershire Latin Reading competition took place at The Cheltenham Ladies` College this week.
As usual, our Year 8 and 9 pupils were very keen to take part in the Junior Section, having already been through their class and school finals. Seven pairs from St Edward’s participated in the Junior Section, reciting, in duologue, a piece from the Cambridge Latin Course. All of the students displayed great accuracy in their delivery and demonstrated that a fantastic amount of advance preparation had been put into their performances.
When the final results were announced St Edward’s pair, Adam J and Josh H, were named overall winners of the competition – we are hugely proud of their achievements, especially as they are in Year 8 and the competition is for students in both Year 8 and Year 9.
Lily J and Annabel S took part in the Intermediate Section of the competition. They maintained their high standards of previous years, by coming in the top 3 once again – well done to them!
Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable and successful afternoon for St Edward’s and we look forward to competing again next year.
