Year 6 girls were hugely excited to welcome Ella Powell-Davies from the Severn Stars Netball Club to lead a Netball Coaching session on Wednesday afternoon.

The girls were put through their paces as they completed a number of drills to improve their attacking and defending skills. They focussed on tactics such as making good use of space, dodging, changing pace and ball control, as well as how to work well together as a team.

The Severn Stars compete in the Vitality Netball Superleague, the highest level of domestic netball in the UK. Within the team there are a number of England Squad players including Ellie Cardwell, Jodie Gibson and Iona Darroch. The visit to St Edward’s Prep was part of their School Membership Programme which aims to inspire and empower young people through the strong role models that exist in women’s sport.

Head of Girl’s PE, Miss Morris, said “Our Year 6 girls really enjoyed the coaching session provided by Severn Stars. It was a great way to kick start our season and has left the girls raring to go for their first fixture next week.”
