Performing Arts

Music and drama are strong at St.Edward's, both in the classroom and as extra-curricular activities..

There are many vocal and instrumental ensembles within the school which rehearse each week. The two choirs are very popular with the pupils and when combined include nearly a quarter of the school. Both choirs sing in our annual Carol Service in historic Tewkesbury Abbey, whilst the Chamber Choir sings at all the school Masses and other liturgies as well as inother local choral events. Each year there is a high-profile concert in the beautiful surroundings of the Pittville Pump Room when all of our musical ensembles perform. There are also numerous opportunities for individuals to perform in our regular Informal Concert series. Individual instrumental and vocal tuition is given by a team of visiting music teachers. There are two school plays a year, with productions ranging from Shakespeare to modern musicals. Pupils can also take individual speech and drama lessons and have performed with great success in festivals and competitions. Click here to learn more about drama in the school.
