The Headmaster

Dr. Andrew Nash read English at Trinity College, Cambridge, and later did a PhD part-time while teaching, becoming the first doctoral graduate of the Maryvale Institute with a thesis on the nineteenth century Catholic thinker, John Henry Newman.

He began his teaching career at St. Columba's College in Hertfordshire and moved subsequently to The Oratory School in Oxfordshire where he was Head of English, a Housemaster and the Deputy Headmaster Pastoral.

He became Headmaster of St. Edward's School in 2001. The changes he has introduced in the school have included a new timetable and pastoral structure, Latin for all pupils from Year 7, the Combined Cadet Force, and new Art, Sixth Form and Science facilities. Most recently, a major new development has just been completed to provide a new Dining Hall, Drama Studio and teaching rooms. The school has grown by over 60 pupils since 2001, with the Sixth Form rising from 74 to 120. The March 2006 Inspection Report described St. Edward's as 'strongly led and well managed.'

Dr. Nash has published and lectured on Newman and other topics. He is married and has four children.
