Physical Education
As well as playing lots of sport - click here to see all about our major Games - our students have P.E. lessons and can study the subject as a GCSE and as an A Level.
Years 7 to 9 pupils have two lessons of P.E. per week in which they undertake a range of activities. Classes are grouped into two-form groups and do two different activities per term. Shown below are the P.E. lessons over a typical year:
| Year 7 | Year 8 | Year 9 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Autumn | Gym | Badminton | Hockey |

Physical Education GCSE and A Level involve a practical performance component as well as the academic content. In the AS the students study anatomy (such as the cardio-vascular system), skill acquisition, and contemporary studies (such as sport in society). In the A2 they study exercise physiology, historical issues (e.g. the 19th century public school development of sport), and comparative studies of sport in other countries such as the USA.
