Music
We aim to stimulate pupil curiosity, confidence, interest and enjoyment in all aspects of Music. The Music Department has well-equipped classrooms, practice rooms and a Performance Hall.
Music is part of the curriculum for Years 7 to 9. We put a strong emphasis on composition, with pupils working in small groups as well as in whole class lessons. Music is a GCSE option in Years 10 and 11 and an A Level option in the Sixth Form. We also offer Music Technology A Level.
About a third of our students have individual tuition with our team of visiting instrumental teachers. Our orchestra, choirs, jazz band and other ensembles perform in a variety of venues over the school year - click here to find out more about our concerts. Our choir provides high quality liturgical music for school Masses and has recently sung in Clifton Cathedral. A tour to Paris is planned for Autumn 2008 (view Blog).
Information regarding instrumental lessons is available here and details of music scholarships and awards here.
