Music
We aim to stimulate pupil curiosity, confidence, interest and enjoyment in all aspects of Music. The Music Department has well-equipped classrooms, practice rooms and a Performance Hall.
Music is part of the curriculum for Years 7 to 9. We put a strong emphasis on composition, with pupils working in small groups as well as in whole class lessons. Music is a GCSE option in Years 10 and 11 and an A Level option in the Sixth Form.
About a third of our students have individual tuition with our team of visiting instrumental teachers. Our choirs, orchestra, concert band and other ensembles perform in a variety of venues over the school year - click here to find out more about our concerts. Our chamber choir provides high quality liturgical music for school Masses and regularly sings in places such as Clifton Cathedral and Tewkesbury Abbey. The Lower School Choir toured to Paris in October 2008 (view Blog) and further tours are planned.
Information regarding instrumental lessons is available here and details of music scholarships and awards here.
