Business Studies
In this subject students examine how a business organisation operates in theory, and then relate this to real-life situations. Within the AS and A2 course, all of the major topics are studied including, Marketing, Finance, Personnel and Production.
Alongside these areas, the objectives and strategies used by firms are investigated, as are the external influences on business such as the government and trading blocks as well as moral and ethical issues.
Students use ICT for research, and trips are planned so that students can discover how firms work in reality. Recent trips have included one to Cadbury World to see how their production process operates and how this differs from the text-book theory. The sports car maker Morgan has also been visited.
Business Studies students are strongly encouraged to take part in the Young Enterprise scheme which gives invaluable practical experience of running business. Click here for futher details.
