Art
Over the past few years, Art has become a major strength of St.Edward's, culminating in the achievement of A grades by every single one of our A-level Art students last summer.
Photography has also been introduced, with a Dark Room created in one of the school's cellars. New Sixth Form Art studios have been put up, and an additional studio has ben created at the back of the Performance Hall. These new facilities have barely kept pace with the increasing numbers of students have opted for Art at GCSE and A-level, achieving remarkable results.
The Art Department is led by Mr.Alan Richardson, together with Miss Rachel Hayward (currently on maternity leave), Mrs.Fiona Richardson, Mrs Sarah Tradgett, Mrs Madeleine Bradshaw, and our Artist in Residence, Miss Catherine Fraser, who is also the department's Technician.
In Summer 2008, the opening of the new Refectory block (see Developments) will enable the Art Department to expand into the present Refectory building which is ideal with its many windows.
