Design & Technology is a popular subject, where our pupils can better understand how the products they use are designed and made. We aim to stimulate a lasting interest in problem-solving and technological activities. We are proud to be able to offer up to date facilities, and invest wisely in top quality tools and equipment to enhance the learning experience.
Our school has a large, well-equipped main workshop, a second light workshop, a dedicated computer room and a superb kitchen with excellent cooking facilities. Dedicated technicians assist the Technology teachers and students.
In Years 7, 8 and 9 all pupils study Design and Technology and Food. In Years 10 and 11 we run popular GCSE’s in both subjects. Design & Technology and Textiles are both available at A Level.
Technology Club runs after school and at lunch times, where students can carry on their work or pursue their own interests. Cooking club and Greenpower Car Club are also very popular. The department organises an exciting annual Technology Day for visiting pupils from local junior schools, sponsored by Messier Dowty.
We run trips to Jaguar, BMW Mini and Morgan Cars to enhance delivery of the A Level Course. We are also fully involved with STEM clubs and competitions.
Our dedicated and enthusiastic teachers have a wealth of experience, and work hard to make sure we are keeping abreast of the latest teaching techniques. This is so important in such a fast moving subject. Our innovative Year 7&8 homework regime is testament to this.
